Fire FEMA Director Now

It has become painfully obvious that Michael Brown, the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency is woefully inadequate. His agency's response to Katrina has been a textbook example of what not to do. The fact that third world countries responding to the Christmas tsunami had a better handle on their crisis than the richest nation on earth has on its disaster. is an embarrassment.

Just an example of FEMA idiocy. Here is how evacuees from the hurricane zone register to disaster relief with FEMA:
Register onlineon the FEMA Web site,www.fema.gov
Register via telephone toll free at 1 (800) 621-FEMA (3362)
Register using TTY 800-462-7585
How does someone who has just lost everything--house, computer, phone--register with FEMA for help online?

Today, Time magazine is reporting that Michael Brown is not just an incompetant bureaucrat, he is also a liar. He claimed to be Asistant City Manager when he was really Assistant to the City Manager. He claimed to be a Political Science Professor when he just a student. The list goes on an on. President Bush needs to fire this man now.

UPDATE: The NY Times is reporting that Michael Brown has been removed from the scene in New Orleans and returned to FEMA HQ in Washington. This is the equivalent of a policeman being placed on "administrative duty" during an internal investigation. Hopefully this is only step one to Brown's complete removal.

this is what happens when the system is full of red tape. Also why is it that FEMA has to report to Homeland Securty instead of working with it, in order to turn gears faster. That way, in the event of a massive terrorist attack, such as a dirty bomb in the middle of times square, FEMA can get to work on helping people, while Homeland Security starts hunting down the terrorist, instead of Homeland Security trying to stop the situation militarily and then deploying FEMA, waisting Vital time.
