It has become painfully obvious that Michael Brown, the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency is woefully inadequate. His agency's response to Katrina has been a textbook example of what not to do. The fact that third world countries responding to the Christmas tsunami had a better handle on their crisis than the richest nation on earth has on its disaster. is an embarrassment.
Just an example of FEMA idiocy. Here is how evacuees from the hurricane zone register to disaster relief with FEMA:
Today, Time magazine is reporting that Michael Brown is not just an incompetant bureaucrat, he is also a liar. He claimed to be Asistant City Manager when he was really Assistant to the City Manager. He claimed to be a Political Science Professor when he just a student. The list goes on an on. President Bush needs to fire this man now.
UPDATE: The NY Times is reporting that Michael Brown has been removed from the scene in New Orleans and returned to FEMA HQ in Washington. This is the equivalent of a policeman being placed on "administrative duty" during an internal investigation. Hopefully this is only step one to Brown's complete removal.
